Report on Gail's time in New Jersey and Washington USA
18th -23rd March 2010
I was privileged to visit several Korean churches/youth groups, and (at the last minute) a gathering of Filipino Assemblies of God pastors. (Thanks Angie for a contact that was really from the Lord, they just 'happened' to be having a Pastors gathering the day I was free). The Korean and Filipino diaspora are, with the Chinese, probably the most influential Christian diaspora in the world today. It was so encouraging to meet leaders who are aware of this, and discipling people to use their God given gifts to affect their own communities and to go out into the nations.
The main reason for my visit was to share the vision that started Celebration for the Nations and ask people to pray about joining us this year. I believe that Celebration is not just a week's event once a year (however glorious that time is), but part of an intercession for the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh.
With recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile (and various other places), and with the growth of Islam, the persecution of Christians, the wars and rumours of wars, it is not hard to place ourselves in the time that Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24. I believe that one of the reasons the Lord has emphasised worship as central to us, is that in this time of increasing wickedness, the love of most will grow cold (Matthew 24:12). Worship refocusses us, so that we do not just look at what is going on around, but look first back to the King, who is still Sovereign over all the affairs of man.
Many of us are sensing an increased urgency. It could even be that the young people with us now, are the final generation. What a task still remains! How we need to see those wells of revival unblocked, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh.
God's preparation
In the mid 90's a team of us were praying for Israel, and the Lord began to speak to us very specifically, telling us that there was a man praying in Jerusalem whom he wanted us to meet. It was an unusual time of prayer as the Lord began to describe the heart of this man and some clues as to how to find him. To cut a long story short, some of us went to Jerusalem, and found the man, just as the Lord had said. To my surprise, he was not a Jew, but a Korean!
This man, Pastor Seong, has been a blessing to us ever since that time, often linking us to the right people for the extension of God's kingdom. He was instrumental in linking Celebration to Go Hyung Won and the Revival Korea team. He is now pastoring a church in New Jersey, and it was at his invitation that I went to the States. He is carrying a passion to see the Korean diaspora raised up for its God given purpose in this generation.
They are coming!
My thanks to Pastor Seong and others for spreading the vision! Some of the leaders I have met (Korean and Filipino) have embraced the vision of Celebration for the Nations and are praying about coming and bringing young people with them. It will be fantastic, if for the first time we could have a Filipino worship team. That is yet to be seen, but it looks possible that several Filipino leaders will join us. Some key East Coast Korean American leaders also want to come, and many of the young people are saying that they will be there! Hallelujah!
Please pray for two lovely ministries among Korean young people called Chosen Generation and Match Strike. Both these ministries (based in Washington DC) are helping Korean young people rise to their holy calling. Pray to for Gospel Fellowship in New Jersey and New Hope Church in Washington.
An anointed worship leader from New Hope Church is coming, and a group of artists are also praying about being with us. We are hoping to have a canvas as part of the Celebration this year, so that those gifted as artists can express their worship to the Lord that way. The painting itself will become a song. (See my poem on the website, Song Light).
My thanks to Pastor Yedid Seong, Pastor Elijah Ahn, Pastor Song Yoon, and Pastor Danny Quijano for opening doors.
Lord, your Kingdom come on Earth as it is in heaven!
